Who we are

CJ Creates Limited (company number 13802841) is a branding agency based at Colchester Business Centre, 340 The Crescent, Highwoods, Colchester CO4 9AD. We’re responsible for any personal information you share with us through this website. If you have a question about your data, email [email protected].

What we collect

When you fill in our contact form, we collect your name and email address, plus anything else you choose to tell us: phone number, company, the service you’re interested in, budget, deadline, project details and how you heard about us. If you email or call us, we keep what you send.

If you accept analytics cookies, we also use Google Analytics to see how people use the website (more on that below). We don’t use advertising cookies or tracking tools.

Why we use it

We use your details to reply to your enquiry and, if we work together, to plan and deliver your project. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and, where you’re asking about working with us, taking steps you’ve requested before entering into a contract.

We use Google Analytics only with your consent, to understand which pages are useful and improve the website.

We won’t add you to a mailing list, and we never sell your details or share them for marketing.

Who can see it

Only us, and the services we use to run the business: our website host, which stores form submissions, and Google, which runs our email, the spam protection on our form and, if you’ve agreed to it, Google Analytics. We may also share information with our accountant or where the law requires it. Some providers may process data outside the UK; when they do, it’s protected by UK-approved safeguards such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

If your enquiry doesn’t turn into a project, we delete it within two years. If you become a client, we keep project and billing records for as long as the law requires, usually six years. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Cookies, analytics, spam protection and videos

When you first visit, a cookie banner asks whether you’re happy for us to use analytics cookies. If you accept, Google Analytics records how you use the website: the pages you visit and for how long, the website or search that brought you here, your device and browser, and your approximate location (town or region, not your address). It doesn’t tell us who you are. If you decline, Google Analytics doesn’t run. You can change your choice at any time from our Cookie Policy page, which also lists every cookie we use. See how Google uses this data.

We don’t use advertising cookies. Our videos are hosted by Vimeo and embedded in “do not track” mode, which stops Vimeo using cookies to track you. Vimeo’s privacy policy applies when you play a video.

To keep spam out of our contact form, the Chat page uses Google reCAPTCHA. It checks that a real person is using the form, which involves Google collecting information about your device and how you use the page. Google’s privacy policy and terms apply, and Google may process this data outside the UK. It only runs on the Chat page, and we use it because we have a legitimate interest in protecting the form from abuse.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can also ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Just email [email protected] and we’ll respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, we’d like the chance to put it right first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

If we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top of this page.
